Report: Building Tomorrow’s Skills in Today’s Charities
Drawing on insights from over 100 UK charity learning and development practitioners to explore how the sector can build future-ready skills today.
The report identifies resilience, leadership and technological literacy as essential foundations, alongside the growing importance of values-led AI use, talent management, curiosity and creative thinking. Together, these capabilities will help ensure charities remain effective, adaptable and attractive employers in a rapidly changing environment.
It highlights the seven skills they consider most critical for the future. Using the World Economic Forum’s Top 10 fastest-growing skills by 2030 as a starting point, participants prioritised the capabilities most relevant to their context. The findings reflect a blend of human and technical strengths, with each skill accompanied by a summary of its importance and practical actions for L&D teams.
