New animated videos to engage learners

The Charity Learning Consortium has created a range of animated videos for third sector organisations to share with their learners. They include topics like fundraising, volunteering, trustees and governance. They complement the wide range of free videos already available in the Clear Lessons library, which can be used to create engaging, blended learning.

The Charity Learning Consortium has created a range of animated videos for the charity sector to use to engage their learners. This has been driven by the real lack of sector-specific resources available.

Several collections of animations have been created, focusing on fundraising, volunteering, trustees and governance. The collections are made up of several series, with six one-minute animations in each. One minute doesn’t sound like a lot does it? But it’s really surprising just how much key information you can convey in a minute! They make great ‘bite-sized’, engaging learning nuggets which are perfect for blended learning programmes.

The new charity specific collections include:

Fundraising
To create this collection, the Consortium worked with a fundraising specialist who is a member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Scotland. Content maps into the Level 3 Fundraiser Apprenticeship.

Volunteering
Covers numerous aspects of volunteering, with a particular focus on managing and retaining them. Content is suitable for managers as well as the volunteers themselves – including specialist volunteers and/or those new to volunteering.

Trustees & Governance
Animated videos aimed at both new and existing trustees. These make serious topics fun and memorable. They’re designed to help people understand what’s expected of trustees, to meet the legal requirements of these key roles and help charities thrive.

All new videos and animations created by the Charity Learning Consortium have captions, which can be switched on and off as viewers prefer. Transcripts can also be downloaded. Videos can be paused, rewatched and shared.

Members of the Consortium get some exclusive benefits to use Clear Lessons but anyone who works or volunteers in the charity sector can sign up to Clear Lessons entirely for free. Find out more here.

Martin Baker, founder and CEO of the Charity Learning Consortium, said: “It has been a long held vision of mine to create good quality, free resources for the charity sector, so it’s wonderful to see that having come to fruition. This new animated content is perfect for creating engaging blended learning programmes for charity staff and volunteers.”

Charitable organisations also have the option to purchase a branded platform, personalised in their colour and style, which can be used to host other content.
